As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the George Washington University hosting the Diversity Summit, we have the opportunity to boldly enter into the next decade of meaningful work - to truly be revolutionary. We are in a critical moment of our university's history and at the crux of building our institution’s future. In alignment with the Strategic Framework, and inspired by principles of community - derived from scholars, researchers, activists, changemakers, youth, and organizers - the 10th Diversity Summit will be named OneGW Summit: Community, Culture & Inclusion. With deep intention and purpose, we believe that centering the GW community in our work to amplify and celebrate diversity, collectively foster inclusion, and strive toward equity for all is how we move forward, together, as OneGW.
Remaining committed to our longstanding values, the OneGW Summit: Community, Culture & Inclusion will continue to be grounded in learning, dialogue, research, storytelling, and education on identity, social issues, diverse viewpoints, and sustainable positive action. The Summit will be:
- A time of reflection, ideation, collaboration, and inspiration
- An opportunity and curated experience for the whole GW community to bring all of their identities, lived experiences, stories, and various perspectives into a shared space
- A groundswelling of engagement through civil discourse, deep listening, and healthy debate
It is our hope that the Summit is affirming to all and across all identities and viewpoints.
From celebrating milestones that helped us reach 10 years, to honoring members of the GW community making a significant impact in the world, and more, the Summit will serve as a catalyst for deeper engagement, connection, and meaningful dialogue across all differences. The Summit will honor the coexistence of multiple truths, demonstrating our strength to come together, break bread, and build as OneGW.
