Derek Malone-France serves as Director of the Program in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, in the College of Arts and Sciences, at the George Washington University, where he is also an Associate Professor of World Religions, Philosophy, and Writing. At GW, Derek has also served as Executive Director of the University Writing Program, Founding Co-Director of GW's French Embassy National Center of Excellence, and Inaugural Chair of the GW Academy of Distinguished Teachers. Outside of GW, he has served as Seminar Director for the Blumberg Program in Astrobiology and Society at the United States Library of Congress and as Director of Academic Design for the NASA Astrobiology Debates series, funded by NASA's Astrobiology Institute. In his current research and teaching, Derek is primarily focused on the civil armed conflict and peace processes in Colombia and on parallels between the historic conditions of devolution into endemic political violence in Colombia and the current state of political dysfunction and dramatically expanding economic inequality in the United States.
