Alexis Whitfield

Alexis Whitfield is from Bristow, Virginia, and earned her undergraduate degree in Human Nutrition, Food, and Exercise with a minor in Disability Studies from Virginia Tech. She chose occupational therapy because of its versatility and creativity, particularly the opportunity to find individualized ways to bridge gaps and support people in living meaningful, fulfilling lives. As a GW OT student, Alexis has engaged with diverse populations and communities throughout Washington, D.C., including through the Community Partnership Program at the National Children’s Center. These experiences have strengthened her OT perspective while allowing her to learn directly from people and communities in their everyday environments.
